InspirationI’ve made a goal to post a blog at least once per day. I have discovered that is quite difficult, especially with the schedule I have right now. I don’t exactly have much of the day to do any writing between work and getting websites up and running. To make matters worse, I’m the farthest thing from a writer. That means I can’t wait for inspiration to show up, I have to seek it out so that I have enough time to write a half decent post. So how do you track down inspiration? This is what I do.

1. Save it for later

Sometimes inspiration shows up when you least expect it and the timing is all wrong. So when a good idea pops in your head or you run across something good to write about, write it down or put it somewhere you can refer to later. Often times I’m at work when things pop in my head to write about. I write a brief description in an email and send it to myself.

2. Brain dead isolation

There are weeks where my brain doesn’t have much time to wonder at work. Those are the weeks that are especially hard to come up with good things to write about. One of my solutions is to go visit news, blog, and tech. websites. The other is to isolate myself and remove all distractions, then I just think through the week bit by bit until I remember something I want to write about. It works exceptionally well for myself but can sometimes take 30 minutes or more.

3. Sleeping imagination

The last way I usually find inspiration to write a blog is by sleeping. For some reason ideas just accumulate when I sleep. When a solid idea comes through I just have to make sure to wake up and go write it down, otherwise I’ll forget

Here is a list of places to find inspiration I found while Googling.
