Mac Inspiring Creativity, PC Users Should Switch to Mac
During the day I work as a graphic designer at a local newspaper and I work on…. wait…. I’m not sure if I can say it…… Windows … 2000.
Now, you can’t really blame the newspaper because not every company can afford to buy the latest and greatest and believe me, this company does try.
As a designer though, it’s the equivalent of working without a soul…
It’s always amazing to me at just how much more inspired I am to be creative as soon as I get home and jump on my iMac, crank up the tunes (iTunes isn’t allowed at work so I use my iPod) and get into the mood Apple products inspire.
They really are much more conducive to creativity than… well, I don’t even need to say it (windows).
I don’t have Apple’s newest operating system (leopard) but tiger alone puts any version of windows to shame. I mean, I just don’t have the problems I used to have with windows, and I’m a pretty advanced user. I always manged to fix whatever arose but seriously, why deal with that? I just don’t have problems on my iMac (ok, I lie, games aren’t exactly Mac friendly).
Here are 10 reasons why people should switch and give Mac’s a shot:
- They’re conducive to creativity and fun
- They’re easy and intuitive
- Your mac isn’t going to get sick from all the viruses running around the internet
- Macs don’t come with all that extra crapware (crap software) installed that is a total pain to get rid of.
- They come with software that is useful, works and isn’t annoying.
- Macs can run anything a PC can
- Mac users are apparently smarter
- Installing and Removing applications is so simple a 5 year old can do it
- Everyone I know that has made the switch vows they will never go back and wished they had switched sooner.
- You don’t have to defrag macs
Those are just a few, here is a list of 50 reasons. Want 10 reasons to upgrade to a PC though?
Top Ten Reasons for Upgrading to a PC instead of a Mac:
- You enjoy reading computer manuals
- Buying parts ‘not included’ is your idea of being patriotic
- Blaming it on the PC is a great excuse… for anything
- Tech support is your idea of telephone dating
- Your favorite computer game is figuring out where your files are
- You look forward to today’s new virus (or worm, or both)
- You like listening to telephone support hold-button music
- Letting the kids play on the Mac next door frees your time (eliminates after-school kid sitters)
- You think Bill Gates deserves the money
- You have nothing better to do with all the extra time
I thought this video was pretty hilarious!

“Macs can run anything a PC can”
hahahaaahhahahhhahhhaahahaha
Are you disagreeing? Since you can run any flavor of windows on a mac now, you can run any windows program too.
A “Mac” is just an overpriced PC with a different OS, which is why you can install Windows on it now.
But there is nothing you can’t do on Windows that you can on Leopard. No matter how shiny the OS is, its not going to make you more creative.
I’ve been using Windows for more than 13 years and all kinds of software and never had to call tech support. The thought never even crossed my mind – I guess a reason to switch to a mac is if your IQ is below 110.
If you think your operating system makes you more creative – you might not have much in the way of creativity in the first place.
@Sombie
If that was the case, OSX would be a breeze to install on any normal PC. You obviously don’t have any background in Psychology. Music inspires creativity and a multitude of other things just as visual stimuli. To add to that, work flow and functionality is faster for designers on a mac, it’s what I do for a living. All of that makes a difference in your mood, which will be directly related to creativity.
@Faisal
I’ve been using windows since DOS, I was raised on it and only within the last 3 years have I been using Mac. Although I have never had to call tech support because I can do it myself, I cannot even begin to count the number of people I have helped with Windows issues. Once they switched to OSX, no more problems.
By insulting a Mac owners IQ you really make a strong statement as to the level of your ignorance.
If you were a real computer user you would be fluent on Windows, Mac & Linux….but I’m sure you’re just a Gates fanboy.

Thank you FX! I think that was the most intelligently written comment here!
Creating an environment that encourages an artistic and creative mood and atmosphere can make a significant difference in your creative inspirations.
Although design can be done by logic, true art must have some sort of inspiration. Now, that can happen regardless of what OS is being used BUT, OSX encourages a much more artsy, fartsy, creative environment to work in. Thus the reason for the design world using Mac for the standard work horse.

How many of you actually use OSX and Windows on a daily basis?
Heh, and do you know WHY it doesn’t install on any PC?
Because Apple made it so.
Microsoft could lock up Windows installations too so that they don’t install on Apple hardware, but then that would just turn into another excuse for Windows haters.
A Mac’s hardware is (now) no different from a PCs except for the BIOS. Windows runs natively on them, not through any virtualization techniques. If Apple unlocked OSX to run on any PC, guess how many “Macs” will sell?
Anyway, I can’t say it better than you did. Maybe OSX does provide a more “artsy, fartsy, creative environment” which is ideal for some designers, but most people usually have a much more solid idea of what they want to create, for which Windows XP is “conductive” enough. If looks are really that important, you could just skin XP.
Now, I must offer my soul to Windows XP so I can play a game that doesn’t suck.

Macs would still continue to sell because they are still well designed and reliable. Of course no manufacturer is without their faults but Macs definitely trump plenty other manufacturers.
There are plenty of overpriced brands aside from Apple.
Are you actually a fluent user of OSX? Have you had to use both Windows and OSX in a work environment (maybe as a designer)? I have and I would choose OSX over Windows hands down. There are so many reasons why that I won’t even get into it.
Every windows user that has taken the time to really learn and get comfortable on OSX has loved it and there has only been a few who decided to use both on a continual basis.
….games….indeed you have struck the true Apple weakness. But with the consoles and HDTV’s of today, I don’t play games on computers any more. ….well, I don’t even play games any more
I just don’t have time as I’m too busy working.
LOL, that video was hilarious.
