   And, did it work for you? After installing, any server I try to join refuses me with the message: This server only allows clients with unmodified content. Restore to a clean installation to join.
   And, indeed, the install was made over a clean install, because otherwise it refuses to run. I don’t even know how to modify said content… I tried to post in the ea forums or raise a ticket at support.ea.com, but it wasn’t working right last night. I post here out of despair and to see if anyone else is having the same problems…

   It worked as far as getting the patch installed and being able to see and join all the servers but after installing the 1.50 patch, the game would just crash about 20 seconds into a game.

   What I ended up doing was getting rid of punkbuster and magically it doesn’t crash any more. Occasionally it will kick me out of a game with a blank punkbuster message but it’s pretty rare at this point.

   You might just delete the battlefield 2142.app file in your applications folder and copy a fresh one over from your disc again. Then re-patch it and go into your “pb” folder and delete the files in there (not the folders) as well as the files within “htm”.

   Hopefully you get it working man! EA has been a massive failure with this game for the Mac players. Very disappointing.

   1.5 Sucks freaking crap, I get the crappy Blanking out error when i try to join any servers now. I investigated anything I could but came up short handed any ideas?

   Yup, I should actually make a post about it since I didn’t find it anywhere until I figured it out for myself.

   You’re getting that error from punkbuster because….well…punkbuster sucks. lol. When you “update” punkbuster it doesn’t actually update the files in the correct location.

   Here is what you need to do. Visit this website: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2142.php and download
   “For Players Filename: pbsec.htm”,
   “PB Client v2.090 for Win32 (and Mac Cider version) Filename: wc002090.htm” and
   “PB ClientA v1375 for Win32 (and Mac Cider version) Filename: wa001375.htm”.

   Then go to your Applications folder, control + click (or right click) on “Battlefield 2142.app”. Select “Show Package Contents”. You see the “pb” folder in there? That’s what should be being updated…but it’s not.

   Anyway, copy the “pbsec.htm” file into the “pb” folder. Then copy the remaining two files “wc002090.htm” and “wa001375.htm” into the “htm” folder.

   Now punkbuster is updated and you should be able to play without those pesky problems (until they update again).

   Well…thats fixed but in return 2142 1.5 has brought a new problem to my door lol. The screen blanks out now before I can even get into game, 1.5 is officially the gayest patch of all games

   Hmm, that sounds weird. You might want to give EA a call about that one. When I installed the game for the first time the into graphics were all screwed up and everything was backwards. To fix it I had to set the anti-aliasing to 2x. Then I removed all the intro videos so that the game would start faster.

   I haven’t had any issues with the 1.5 patch so unfortunately I can’t help. If I run across something I’ll shoot you an email and/or post it here.

   I think I will also post an article about the several “fixes” or “hacks” I have found around the web to improve my bf2142 experience on the mac.

   well atleast you can see the servers. when i install the patch i can’t even start up the game. every time i click on it to start it says something about conflict with emulation system or something

   Have you tried it with a freshly installed game? Have you tried calling EA?

   Hello all, thanks for the info!
   I have a problem, also, with the stupid 2142… I´ve tried to patch the game with the 1.5 ver. and after doing so I get the command line:
   “Some files have been modified, please re-install”.
   Well, that´s all good. But I have re-installed the game from the DVD, and it is still good old ver. 1.25.
   Can I somehow go into the game dir. and change some of the files my selves, or what can I do?

    I wouldn’t be modifying any of the game files without a specific step by step guide for a particular reason. EA really did a poor job on this game for the Mac users so it’s a finicky game.

    After you reinstall, you’ll need to reinstall the patch and you should be good to go. If not, try contacting EA and see if they can help you with more specifics.

    I downloaded the punkbuster .htm files but when I went to show package contents I had no pb folder to put it in. I just created a folder called pb but it doesn’t seem to work.
