The motorcycle you see inside this car was supposedly traveling at approximately 85mph when the VW driver pulled out from a side street. The motorcycle rider obviously did not have enough time to react and avoid an accident. The driver of the VW was talking on her cell phone.

The car actually flipped from the force of the impact and landed about 20 feet away from the initial point of impact. The motorcycle rider was found inside the car with the VW driver and passenger. All three were killed instantly.

Microsoft is the brilliant company that produced Internet Explorer, the nightmare of developers everywhere. They recently released Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) into the wild, a much improved browser from the utter crap they’ve previously produced and yet a total joke amongst other browser contenders.

They’ve really been pushing IE8 but their latest circus show really takes the cake in terms of complete stupidity – Microsoft’s Browser comparison chart

If you’re familiar with the array of major browsers currently available and the past history of Microsoft and Apple, you’ll notice there’s one browser that’s intentionally left out. That would be Apple’s Safari.

Microsoft has the balls to claim that their browser (IE8) is actually better than Firefox and Chrome and goes even further to completely disregard Safari. Safari is now one of the best browsers available and is arguably the fastest browser to date.

Microsoft preys off the ignorance of the general public and blatantly lies to coax people, who don’t know any better, into using their products. I wouldn’t even use their products if I was paid to. Oh, speaking of being paid to use IE8…

They actually offered $10,000 as a hidden prize that you could supposedly only find if you used IE8. They actually have to pay people to use their crappy software!

Ok, so let’s get back to Microsoft’s browser comparison chart. Not only do they intentionally leave out Safari (which easily makes IE8 look like the retarded fat kid in class) but they claim IE8 has better compatibility with more web sites than any other browser.

As a web developer, this is the equivalent of Microsoft throwing their own fecal matter (poop) at the very people inventing the web and new web standards. It’s beyond an insult. Ask any web developer and they’ll tell you that Internet Explorer is a total joke and the stuff nightmares are made of in our profession.

Among other things, this is blatant false advertising and proof that Microsoft cannot be trusted. If you were suckered into using IE8, I feel sorry for you, I really do. You may not realize it but IE8 is potentially the worst possible browser you could be using (aside from IE6 and 7). Do yourself (and the world of we developers) a favor and at least try Safari, Firefox or Chrome.

Want proof? You can run the “Acid 3” test on the browser you’re using right now. Safari smoothly accomplishes 100/100. IE8? haha, good luck.

EDIT: Ain Tohvri mentioned in the comments that I’ve left out Opera from the list of contenders. Opera is actually a fantastic browser and really doesn’t get the attention it deserves. It achieves 100/100 on the acid 3 test as well so you can certainly count on it being one of the best browsers available.

I’m all for helping people who need help but I’m not for helping people who are just freeloaders. Also, I think it’s great to see people like Michelle Obama helping people like this but I can’t help but think that she could be using her position for much more good than this.

No offense, I hear Oprah is pretty cool beans and all that but it’s people like her that are evolving Twitter into some sort of popularity beast focused on who’s following who and how many followers you have. I suppose this happens with all new social media avenues but it’s still unfortunate.

I think what really bothers me about Oprah joining the twitterverse is that it’s some big damn deal that some old lady, which happens to be super idolized, has finally joined the technology and social media age. Don’t get me wrong, I hear Oprah is like the next closest person to Jesus and all which is like OMG – *sarcastic*

So I read this article and I’m thinking WTF Twitter? It talks about the influx of new Twitter users due to Oprah joining and how it’s going to test Twitter’s infrastructure. “And so far, Twitter has passed with flying colors.” Where the hell were those flying colors awhile ago? All I remember were flying FAIL WHALES! That just goes to show who Twitter’s founders really care about (celebrities).

The article continues on with an analyst saying “Oprah is more of a ‘movement’ than a TV personality or entertainer… Consumers accross the world listen and absorb whatever Oprah does/says and today she has begun to Twitter.” The moment I read that I had the taste of vomit in my mouth. That sounds more like she could be the anti-christ than just some super-popular grandma. It also sounds like a case of the lemmings…

To finish my “Big O” rant I’m going to also mention that the race to 1 million Twitter followers yesterday, held by Mr. Kutcher and CNN turned into a bunch of bs. Initially I thought it was about doing away with huge corporate media and showing that we, the people, have the power and the right to share news and information freely. I followed Mr. Kutcher under this principal against CNN only to realize, for most people on Twitter, this was about something else (popularity? social dominance?). During his live Ustream broadcast I heard another celebrity say this was as big of a deal as putting a man on the moon. Haha! …No further comments.

It’s not that hard to drive in snow. It’s not that hard to be a courteous, responsible and safe driver either. Especially in these kind of conditions. However, in a town filled with college students, you would expect lots of bad drivers everywhere… and, there are. Except that most of the college students have left for x-mas break.

But, even quite a few of the townies here are pretty bad drivers. You’ve got the punks in their little Toyota trucks thinking they’re invincible and better drivers than everyone else on the road speeding past you only to end up slamming on the breaks to make a turn in time, barely managing enough traction to make it and causing everyone he just cut off to nearly rear end him. What a jackass!

Then you’ve got the people who think a parking lot full of cars and people is the best area to get going 15-20mph and slam on the breaks to slide to a stop because it’s fun. Ohh, but what do you know, THERE ARE PEOPLE on the other side of the car parked on either side of you that you probably would have ran over had they not seen your stupid ass coming! Seriously, what if you run over a 5 year old kid? Knowing your type, you’d think it was the kid’s fault and keep doing what you’re doing.

You’ve got people tailing you that may not be able to stop in a bad situation fast enough, trucks driving around like they own the road because they have 4×4 but just looking like total retards, kids fishtailing down narrow streets nearly side swiping every other car just because they want to have a bit of fun…. ugh…

Seriously people? Are you all that stupid? Drive safe out there everyone. If you want to go have fun in the snow, go find a field or completely empty parking lot. 5 minutes of fun isn’t worth dying over or killing someone else for.

Many people knew the employee had been killed and they just wanted to keep shopping. It makes me sick that people like this are out there in such large numbers. They should each be charged with the murder of both this employee and the miscarriage.

On a lighter note, ComputerTV has teamed up with CompUSA and TigerDirect to host the best after thanksgiving sales available. The best part is that this is for a good cause! They are calling it Pink Friday as all the proceeds will go to finding a cure for breast cancer.

Huge companies like Sony and Microsoft have donated some really great products like laptops and xbox’s that are being sold at 50%. They are giving tons of stuff away and even selling some stuff for cheaper than 50%.
